Free-Bees for your holiday gift baskets!

Posted by Erin (and sometimes The Todd) on Dec 6, 2009 in Free-Bees Giveaways

My girlie Lesley over at One Cheap Chick turned me on to this brilliant idea–when you sign up for all these lovely free-bees, there’s really only so many you can use yourself.  We’ve been collecting them, along with all the free offers here on That Went Well (like glucose monitors, etc.) for our local women and children’s overflow shelter.  It filled up distressingly quickly this year.   Personal care items–especially these trial sizes–are great to pack when moving around.  Consider signing up to get enough for your donation baskets!

How cute is this?  “Santa” will send your little people personalized letters–even postmarked from the North Pole!  My girlie Karyn did this last year for her 6 year old who was getting too “cool” for the Big Guy, but still wanted to believe…  For $9.99, your little person gets a personalized letter, North Pole stamped envelope and a cute holiday door hanger.

Zhu Zhu Pets at CVS TODAY!

Posted by Erin (and sometimes The Todd) on Dec 6, 2009 in Unfiled Stuff

AAAAAAH!  I’ll be arm-wrestling my way through CVS today, and here’s why:  CVS will have the Zhu Zhu Pets available for $9.99. This starts today, (12.6) and I’m sure they’ll sell out immediately.  Our morning radio show always tracks the biggest gift every year and tries to give them away–the manufacturer wouldn’t even give us any for promotions–they knew they’d sell out.  So, I’ll be buying them for giveaways.

Looking for work? there’s help for your medications available…

Posted by Erin (and sometimes The Todd) on Dec 6, 2009 in Looking for Work Resources

pillssDon’t forget, those who have lost their jobs and medical coverage have until Dec. 31 to apply for a program run by drug maker Pfizer that provides medicines for free for up to one year, or until they become insured again, whichever comes first. The program covers 70 Pfizer medications, including antidepressant Zoloft, cholesterol-lowering medication Lipitor, and impotency treatment Viagra.  (Editor’s note: really?  They picked Viagra?  Really?) Go here for more information about this program.  Sneaky inside tip: if the Pfizer plan won’t work for you, there’s two other programs to help for those who have lost jobs can be found here.

Thanks for the reminder, One Cheap Chick!

Planning ahead for the Holidays…

Posted by Erin (and sometimes The Todd) on Dec 6, 2009 in Erin's Diatribes/The Todd's Tastes, Free-Bees Giveaways

santaI’m trying to improve from my general uselessness regarding Holiday gift prep.  My sisters have questioned whether I even have ovaries because I’m the lone female you see on Christmas Eve trying to arm wrestle every husband and father for that last pair of off-brand socks.  I actually gave my boss a pound of sodium-free cheese once because that was all that was left at the grocery store.

So, my goal is to pick one or two really cheap and cute gifts per week that I can stock up on to get ready for December 25th.  If you suck at this, too–we can prepare together!

Here’s a good one:  I’ve actually gotten three free-bee offers through Vista Print.  They’ve made up great-looking cards for my neighbor kid’s lawn-mowing business…I got a free customized rubber stamp for “Erin’s Slumber Party,” and I printed up these cute “I’m Amazing!” stickers for my twins’ class.  All free!  You just pay shipping and handling.  Here’s some of the things they can do:  Get 250 FREE Business Cards, 140 FREE Return Address Labels, FREE Rubber Stamp, 10 FREE Invitations, 100 FREE Postcards, Free Sticky Note Pad, 25 FREE Magnets, FREE Note Pad, FREE T-Shirt, FREE Mouse Pad, 25 FREE Checks or FREE Keychain. Choose from a variety of designs that suits your needs and style.  Give Vista Print a try…
