Update on Burt’s Bees…

Posted by Erin (and sometimes The Todd) on Dec 7, 2009 in Unfiled Stuff

Update on the Update:  from girlie Angie: “Just to let you know- I tried this exactly how you said and it didn’t work so I called Customer Service. They informed me that the codes are NOT stackable so you can’t use the FBFAN and WELCOME with the BURT20. And then the total is not over $25 so you don’t get the free shipping and 20% off and free lip balm. So I am amazed you got it to work- good for you:)”

Disappointing.  I don’t know if I talked to Good Cop customer service person and Angie got Bad Cop customer service person, but I apologize for anyone who wasted their time.  It’s the inconsistency that’s annoying–if it works for one, it should work for everyone.  I’m going to list this deal as dead.  Sorry, folks…

hmmm…I’ve been getting some questions from some of the girlies trying to get the grab bag–it DID work for me, but after three inquiries, I made my sister go online to order as well.  Everything worked for her…so I called Customer Service.  Their answer: “if you have problems getting all the codes to load properly, try ordering all three things at once, then adding the discount codes at the end.  If it still doesn’t load properly for you, call us then and let us finish the checkout for you.”  Here’s the customer service number: 1.800.849.7112  Here’s the original post: http://thatwentwell.net/2009/12/06/an-amazing-grab-bag-from-burts-bees-for-only-20-00/

Gorgeous cookbooks for a $1.00 each!

Posted by Erin (and sometimes The Todd) on Dec 7, 2009 in Uncategorized

I have been blessed with a husband who not only does all the cooking, he actually loves to cook!  I’m in love with The Good Cook  Book Club, they’re offering four beautiful cookbooks for a dollar each, along with a free-bee for signing up.  They ask you to buy 2 more sometime in the next year at club prices, which are around 25% lower than the store price.  However, I burned off one of those requirements with a 50% off purchase on another book with this order.  gordon

I picked up:

Paula Deene’s “Family Cookbookpaula,”  Gordon Ramsey’s “Cooking for Friends,”

Barefoot Contessa’s “Back To Basics,” Southern Living’s “Holiday Cooking” (that one’s for me, it’s all desserts!) and The Culinary Institute of America’s seminal tome–it’s like the Mount Everest for cooks!xmas

Aaand, for my 50% off one, I picked up Rachael Ray’s “Big Orange Book.”  If you paid full retail for all these beauties, it would be $107.95.  I got them all for $13.99!  Sweet!  Go here to look around and pick your books.  I just finished Christmas for The Todd, my mom and my sister-in-law!

More $5.00 magazine subscriptions from Amazon.com!

Posted by Erin (and sometimes The Todd) on Dec 7, 2009 in Unfiled Stuff

goodI love giving (and getting, I read like, 50 magazines a month for show prep) magazine subscriptions!  It’s nice to think someone took the time to decide what interests you and got you a subscription to something you enjoy.  I make up a nice little card telling them a year’s worth of magazines are on their way, rolled up in the current issue.  $5.00 bucks a pop certainly makes it easier to give more!

This is good through Saturday (12/12), here’s a few more one-year magazine subscriptions you can pick up:

Cosmopolitan

Country Living

Good Housekeeping

House BeautifulMarie Claire

Popular MechanicsSmartMoney

Veranda

Posted by Erin (and sometimes The Todd) on Dec 7, 2009 in Recommendations

…I’m a fan of BeRuby because you simply check into the site, then do your usual back and forth with Facebook, Twitter, budget blogging, etc. and you make money doing it.  Really.  You’ll start seeing nice little zings in your PayPal account, and sooner (rather than later, like most of these) you’ve got enough credits to shop like you’re Paris Hilton, baby!  It’s easy to sign up, give it a try.  Click on Mr Happy Red and White Box!  $
