Okay, I just can’t let this one go…

debbie-gibson-intouchI would like you to know that I am not critical of anything women do with their bodies.  (Editor’s note: The Todd will disagree and tell you I am wildly judgemental.  But he’s not here right nowto argue about it.)  Anyway, I saw this picture of little Debbie Gibson–ah, sorry, DEBORAH Gibson.  She used to look like a slim, normal human woman.  She’s actually proud of this withered and cadaverous form.  Here’s what she said: “I’m at 114 pounds. I was okay at my previous weight, but I felt like my inner diva did not match my outer diva.”
“I feel hotter and more in control. It’s even improved my sex life. You shouldn’t get your whole self-worth from how you look, but at 39, I think it’s okay to focus on the outside a bit if it makes you feel good.”

Look at her chest!  It’s like a xylophone!   What happened to the former teen idol who cleverly reinvented herself on Broadway and didn’t end up a cutter and coke hound?  Who IS this haggard creature?

I totally agree, Erin. I want to take her home and feed her some healthy Southern food until she puts on 20 pounds. She does NOT look good — she looks like she just got out of the hospital after a long, debilitating illness.

It’s totally gross. And in Hollywood you can’t get a job unless you look like this. Disgusting.

I think it’s because most of the male actors are actually scrawny geeks and they need women to be anorexic in order to make the men look stacked.

Jamielise–HAH!

JWB–I agree, it’s hard to get an eating disorder when you’ve had some wonderful warm hush puppies and a nice bowl of grits with maple syrup. Dangit, now I’m hungry…

I agree-she’s way too skinny. I hope my girls can find some role models with a healthy weight and not feel like that is the standard they have to meet!

Add victoria beckham to the list. she just looks unhealthy!
Rennee Zellwegger too looked better at the Bridget Jones weight.

I would not even recognize her on the street…I think at age 40, it’s time to give up the string bikini anyway.

I don’t even see how she thinks she looks good. She looks like a walking skeleton. Surely no man really finds that attractive??

I agree, she looks awful! Surely a major warning sign of an eating disorder is thinking your hideously skinny body looks good? She needs an intervention!

I agree with everyone else – she really does look awful. She used to look so great! Why on earth would she want to try to look like an 8 year old skinny boy? She may need some serious help; she has some inner issues that are projecting outward. I hope she gets the help she needs.

I agree with you 100% Erin!!! Sadly this is what society does to people. It isn’t even just women and girls anymore.
