Free-Bee Comic Book Day Is Saturday

Don’t forget, Free Comic Book Day is tomorrow! (Editor’s note: I’m terrfied to call them “comic books” because then all the sci-fi fiends pounce on me, hissing “they’re GRAPHIC NOVELS!”) You can peruse through several options, and every participating store should have age-appropriate choices. I know some little ones have been more interested in readng when it’s from a comic–ah–GRAPHIC NOVEL. Some outlets are promoting special events and visits by comic book characters. Go here for more information.
Thanks for the reminder, One Cheap Chick!

The Free-Bee Address Labels Are Back At Vistaprint!
The Vistaprint offer for 140 free-bee address labels is back! I love these because they’re easy to customize and use for other things. For instance, I’ve noticed the twins’ books are beginning to disappear, so I just created “this book belongs to…” labels for little borrowers. These would be cute for cookbooks as well. I tried a design out for my mother–she’s always leaving dishes, pots and pans at everyone’s houses for potluck. Go here to start your own creations!

Carol commented on this important point: “While the labels are free, the shipping is not. The most you’ll pay is $3.66 for expedited shipping (7 days).” I paid $1.95 for mine, I got them in 9 days.

“Pretzelmaker®/Pretzel Time® will once again host a day-long National Pretzel Day celebration on April 26 at participating stores across the country. This year the company is putting a new “twist” on the holiday by asking customers to “Sing for Your Snack.”
To mark this festive day, customers are encouraged to visit their local Pretzelmaker on National Pretzel Day, sing a snippet from a song of their choice and receive a FREE pretzel (with or without salt). Patrons who prefer not to sing won’t go hungry – they can simply mention “National Pretzel Day” and receive their free snack.” (Editor’s note: that’s lucky, because when I sing, dogs howl.) Congratulations to Jolene Whitney, our winner this week for the $50.00 Lowe’s gift card: “Need a new toilet seat. Much appreciated then again, maybe I’ll just get flowers to plant or paint for the outside trim. ooh, oohh, new light fixture for the family room; or new faucet for kitchen. How much is the gift card for again?” Hah! Thank heavens we’ve got a Frugalista on our hands…I’m sure she’ll stretch it a looong way.

Free-Bee Crochet Patterns eBook
I decided to take up crochet to keep busy when The Todd forces me to watch something on the World War Two Channel with him–there’s nothing more inspiring than the drone of an annoucer explaining the flywheel mechanism in the German Panther Tank engine–for sixty minutes. Anyway, I found the Free Crochet Patterns eBook last week and tried it out. For newbies or experienced, there’s lots of fun new patterns, and maybe something to make for Mother’s Day? One of my first attempts is seen here. Not perfect…okay, not even close, but I’m absurdly proud of it. Download your free book here.

50 Cent Summer Movies Are Back!

I’m compiling my “get the twins out of the house for cheap” list for the summer…one great resource is the 50 cent movie offers at several of the national chains.
CineMark’s schedule for the upcoming summer is now online here. You can see all 10 movies for $5.00, or 50 cents per movie, if you buy a pass in advance. If you don’t pay in advance, you’ll still pay only $1.00 per movie. None of the movies are new releases of course, but you do get to watch some old favorites in the comfort of an air-conditioned movie theater.

Sweet! The best way to use this beauty is to poke around The Company Store’s choices on the “sale of the day” section, where everything is discounted. It’s called their “Trade-in One Day” promotion–bring in any current skincare bottle (any brand & it can be full or empty) and they will trade it in for a NEW full-size bottle of their face wash or antioxidant cleanser for FREE. You can choose from Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash (5 fl oz) or a Perfect World Antioxidant Cleanser with White Tea (5 fl oz).
You can go to any US Origins retail location or department store counter to make this exchange, while supplies last, on Thursday 4/22. Find an Origins location near you.

Free-Bee Cookbook For Cinco De Mayo
We spend the days leading up to May 5th in a heady anticipation on The Todd and Erin morning show–we send out a roving band of Mariachis to serenade people against their will–and we play “Jalepeno Jeopardy.” “JJ” is played in standard Jeopardy fashion with a series of common knowledge questions, but when one contestant gets an answer right, the others have to eat a pepper of increasing heat. The Habanero Round is very uncomfortable.
A somewhat less painful option for Cinco De Mayo might be this free-bee eCookbook full of celebration recipes for this glorious Mexican holiday. Click here and enjoy!
Earth Day Crafts
Celebrate Earth Day this Thursday (4.22) with this free-bee craft book based on all recycled and recyclable crafts. I tried out a project with the twins this weekend–we made our own paper! Zach and MacLean loved it because it was gloppy and pulpy, I loved it because we put in seeds–we’re going to give the paper as Earth Day greeting cards that people can plant in their garden. Cute, eh? This would be great for a PTA or kid’s club project. Click here to download.
