How I Made $20.00 In 2 Minutes…

school…I have a stubborn insistence on trying out saving methods and websites first before I post them here.  There’s too many options that either waste your valuable time or just don’t offer enough return for the effort you’d need to expend.  (Editor’s note: and yes, I’m the chump who has wasted her time so that you don’t have to.  Just ask The Todd.)

After almost a year of budget blogging here on That Went Well, the easiest cash-back option has to be Ebates.  I was a little late to the party on this one, but they made it up to me in a hurry–2 minutes, to be exact.  I signed up for Ebates, ($5.00 for new signup, ca-ching!) then went through their link to Old Navy to buy a bunch of summer clearance items for the twins and some school uniform thingies.  10% cash back. ($15.19, ca-ching!)  Just like that.  So, in two minutes, I made $20.00 and even got free shipping with an Ebates code.  I bring this up now because back to school expenses are the third highest expense of the year for families with school-age children.  Take a minute to sign up with Ebates here and scroll through their options for cash back, discounts and free-bee shipping.

I’m setting my sights on Drugstore.com next.  I’ll get free-bee shipping and a $25.00 gift certificate to Restaurant.com for any purchase of $25.00…which makes this…add the one, carry the four…FREE!  Plus, don’t forget the cash rebate of 6% back!  That makes this a money-maker.  Hurry, this offer expires tonight (7.31)

OK, I gotta know — what are the first 2 highest expenses of the year? One is Christmas, but what would the other be, that could beat out back-to-school?

Michelle–it’s weird, it comes in May/June, when parents shell out for summer programs, health care and vacations.
