Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

Posted by Erin (and sometimes The Todd) on Oct 31, 2010 in Gift Card Giveaways From TWW

giftCongratulations to Marcey Kingston, our winner today for the $50.00 Walmart gift card!  I find it bizarre that major retailers are already starting their “Black Friday” sales 3 weeks before Thanksgiving, but gee, a $50.00 gift card can go pretty far.  Have fun!

Seventh Generation Coupons

Posted by Erin (and sometimes The Todd) on Oct 31, 2010 in Organic Coupons & Deals

seventh-generation-family-1-540x326I’m constantly obsessed with what chemicals my boys are touching or breathing after I clean the house.  It used to be the harsher the better!  (Yes, I’m a clean freak.) But little bodies today are besieged with all manner of toxicity and chemicals that we didn’t grow up with.  I’m making the switch to natural cleaners–like vinegar and baking soda–but simply for convenience sake, Seventh Generation cleaners are lovely.  Here’s some coupons:

$2.00 off any 2 Seventh Generation Products
$1.00 off any Seventh Generation Laundry Product
$1.00 off any Seventh Generation Baby Diapers, Wipes, or Training Pants
$1.00 off any Seventh Generation Disinfecting Product (Spray or Wipes)

Sneaky inside tip: there’s also a rebate form for a free bottle of Seventh Generation spray cleaner when you purchase their liquid laundry and dish soap products.  Print that form here.

Thanks, My SLC Mommy!

Six Kid’s Books For $2.00

Posted by Erin (and sometimes The Todd) on Oct 30, 2010 in Uncategorized

Book of the Month Clubs are a little Old-School, but I signed the twins up for the Children’s Book of the Month Club because it’s a great incentive to get them to do chores.  They have to “earn” their monthly book, and kid or adult, there’s nothing more satisfying than a shiny new book arriving in Mr. Mailbox, am I right?

You’ll start with receving 6 books and a free gift–ours was a canvas book bag–for a mere $2.00.  You’re asked to buy only 4 more books sometime during the next year.  There’s an option to pick up 2 more books immediately for only $4.95 each.  I did that to burn off 2 of our requirements.  You can cancel at any time during the first month, but keep the free gift.

Zachie and MacLean picked “Harry Potter’s Film Wizardry,” “My Dog May Be A Genius,” “The Chronicles of Narnia” (Editor’s note: 6 books that count as one!) “If You Take A Mouse To The Movies” “The 39 Clues: The Maze Of Bones” “The Polar Express” “Peter and the Secret of Rundoon” and “You Read To Me, I’ll Read To You.”

We ended up with $155.94 worth of beautiful, shiny new books for only $11.95–shipping was around $19.00.  How cool is that?  :)   Plus, I really like my boys taking ownership of selecting their books, earning them, and eagerly waiting for them to come in the mail.  This is also a great way to stock up on birthday party and Christmas gifties, too.

Help EVERY Kid To Celebrate Halloween…

Posted by Erin (and sometimes The Todd) on Oct 26, 2010 in Activist Mom

kid…imagine “celebrating” Halloween in a homeless shelter.  One of the coolest days of the year for any little kid, and there’s no costume, no treats, no spooky stories.

I’m broadcasting from The Road Home Wednesday (10.27) from 3-6pm, and I’m asking for your help.  I’m sure there’s a pile of Halloween costumes your little goblin has outgrown, please consider dropping them by tomorrow–clean and in good condition–for the over 200 children currently living at the shelter.  Also on the wish list: warm coats, boots, underwear and socks.  I always bring diapers–sizes 4, 5 and 6!!!!!–and other toiletries.  Plus, I’m bringing candy.  I don’t care.  You can’t have Halloween without candy!  Please let these children know that they’re important, and they matter.  The Road Home is located at 210 South and 455 West in Salt Lake City.  You can find directions and more information here.

Free Personalized Photo Calendar

Posted by Erin (and sometimes The Todd) on Oct 25, 2010 in Free-Bees Giveaways

gifttI’m trying VERY hard to escape my bad holiday habits of years past.  My sisters have questioned if I even have ovaries, because I am the lone female on Christmas Eve, battling it out with all the guys for that last pair of off-brand socks.  I actually gave my boss a pound of sodium-free cheese one year because that’s all that was left at the grocery store.  So, I’m starting now to stockpile gifts.  My goal is to see if I can get at least half our gifts this year for the zillion free options you see here on That Went Well.

Vistaprint Free Calendar
This is a Nana gift: a free personalised photo calendar from VistaPrint.  I’ve ordered free items repeatedly from VistaPrint–everything comes earlier than expected and always clean, sharp colors.  Just pay shipping, and you’re on your way!

Last Minute Free Weekend Fun

Posted by Erin (and sometimes The Todd) on Oct 23, 2010 in Free-or Cheap-Family Fun

Trying to figure out how to entertain the offspring today?  Here’s a few options…

bricktoberAt Toys R’ Us, little ones can build their own Lego car free beginning at noon today: this is while supplies last, so you might want to hurry.  Find more details and your closest locations here.

October23_2010-02Over at Michael’s, there’s a free craft event today, tomorrow, and next weekend as well.  There’s everything from t-shirt decorating (requires the purchase of a t-shirt) to mask-making.  You can pick your favorite event here.

Thanks, One Cheap Chick!

Free Photo Book From Picaboo!

Posted by Erin (and sometimes The Todd) on Oct 23, 2010 in Free-or Cheap-Family Fun

Just a reminder–this offer expires on Monday, 10.25.10  I wanted to make sure you had a chance to take advantage of it before it goes…  I just finished mine, I think it’s beautiful!   picaboo_books

Photo books gained popularity just in time to keep me from perishing from hot glue gun burns.  Scrapbooking is not my skill.  This is the best offer I’ve seen from Picaboo–a free 20 page large Classic book.  This is a $39.99 value, and you can order a large custom book, even leather bound with the free offer!   Just pay shipping.  Picaboo is the easiest online photo service I’ve used yet to create a book.  The offer’s good through October 25, and is for first time customers only. Click on Mr. Orange Box below to get started!
